The square tube design of these telescopes maximizes the internal tube space allowing damaging tube currents to avoid the actual optical path — this results in clear, steady seeing.
The design of the Celestron PowerSeeker2 optical tube helps reflect stray light away from the user’s eye, giving higher contrast planetary and lunar views. Unlike most other 60mm refractors, the PowerSeeker2 has a rotatable erect image diagonal that makes it excellent for land viewing as well as astronomical use.
Other features include: Soft carrying case holds the telescope, mount, tripod, and all accessories;
5x20 finderscope held by pivot arm for convenient alignment;
Accessory tray to hold extra eyepieces;
Built-in compass to assist in terrestrial observations;
Two 1.25” eyepieces and a 3x Barlow lens;
Coated objective lens.

This 3" Newtonian reflector model uses the German equatorial mount with setting circles and slow motion controls on both the right ascension (R.A.) and declination (DEC.) axes. These features make it easier to locate and track objects.
While observing, you'll notice that as the earth rotates on its axis, stationary stars appear to move across the sky. Thus, due to the earth's rotation, the object you're viewing will drift out of view in both axes, over time. A telescope on an equatorial mount can be aimed at a celestial object and guided with the slow motion controls to follow the object across the sky and keep it in the field of view of your telescope.

Dobsonian telescopes are recognized within the astronomy hobby as an excellent value for the aperture size, and Celestron's StarHopper line is as rich in features as it is in value.
Celestron's Dobsonian configuration is a Newtonian optical tube mounted on an altazimuth mount. The optical system features a large primary mirror at the bottom of the tube which collects light and concentrates it onto a small secondary mirror, which reflects the light out the side of the tube and into the eyepiece. Best of all, StarHopper Dobsonians are easy to observe with -- the user navigates through the night sky by simply moving the tube up or down, and left or right, by hand.
All StarHoppers use optical quality BK-7 glass, this is the same high-quality glass used in most binocular prisms and refractor telescope lenses. All StarHoppers use a roller track bearing on the azimuth surface providing dozens of support points for smooth swivel motion. They also use a variable tension clutch system for proper balance and control in both altitude and azimuth. The 10" & 12" StarHoppers have cooling fans built-in to the rear cell to decrease cooling times. The 8", 10" & 12" models come standard with 2" focuser and 1.25" adapter. The 10" & 12" models come standard with a 32mm 2" eyepiece and use a 9-point flotation mirror cell for equal support of the primary mirror.

The optics of the C8-N telescope are manufactured to Celestron's uncompromising standards. The C8-N uses
diffraction-limited parabolic primary mirrors for razor sharp star images across a wide field of view. These telescopes are mounted on the very rigid CG-5 German equatorial mount. A counterweight, latitude scale, setting circles, and slow motion controls on both axes are standard, so you have a fully loaded telescope right from the start. These mounts are the most rigid and stable type in their price range. They feature precision gears for extremely smooth motion. The mount is supported by heavy duty tripod with 2" steel legs for extra stability and vibration free viewing.

Celestron’s Dall-Kirkham design exceeds the off-axis performance of even the Ritchey-Chrétien design. RMS spot sizes at the edge of a 35mm frame remain smaller than a single pixel on the most advanced CCD cameras available to amateurs today. The optical system also features a conical primary mirror with low thermal mass and three cooling fans to minimize the cool down time. This no-compromise design provides the superb resolving power Dall- Kirkham telescopes are known for, but without the coma that has previously limited their wide-field performance. The C20 optical system will come standard with Celestron’s advanced StarBright® XLT High- Performance Optical Coatings.
The tracking accuracy with this observatory-class mount is better than 5 arcseconds peak to valley without enabling the PEC function. The C20 Astrograph mount breaks down into three components for easier transporting and includes fully integrated electronics as well as Celestron’s renowned and proven NexStar® software.

If you are looking to move up to a higher quality eyepiece the Omni series provides more enhanced features in a wider selection of focal lengths. Celestron designed this series with the finer points in mind so you, the user, can benefit from the features that make this series unique. The Omni is a 4 -element premium symmetrical Plössl optical design. Features include blackened lens edges to minimize internal reflection and maximize contrast, multi-layer coating group on each lens surface to maximize light transmission and contrast, and each Omni goes through a two-step anodizing process to prevent reflection from the top eyepiece barrel, unlike most other manufactures who use reflective surfaces. Threaded barrels accept 1-1/4" Celestron thread-in filters.

If you are looking for an eyepiece that excels for planetary viewing, then Celestron’s X-Cel offers the unique features you are looking for. A 6-element fully multi-coated optical design, the X-Cel utilizes extra low dispersion (ED) glass on its most highly curved surfaces, to minimize chromatic aberration that can hinder sharp planetary views. With a wide 55° apparent field of view, and a large 25mm clear aperture the X-Cel is one of the most comfortable eyepieces to use. Every X-Cel eyepiece is parfocal with each other, meaning little or no focusing is needed when changing from low to high power. The X-Cel comes with soft rubber eyecups and a durable plastic case. In addition, if you are an eyeglass wearer, you will enjoy the 20mm eye relief available on each of the X-Cel focal lengths. Threaded barrels accept 1-1/4" Celestron thread-in filters.

This general purpose, Wratten #1A filter improves color saturation and balance, increases visual and photographic contrast, helps to decrease glare in lunar and planetary observing, and penetrates atmospheric haze. The Skylight Filter/Dust Seal must be threaded onto the rear cell of the instrument before any other accessory is installed. The female end attaches to the rear cell of the C5, C8 and C9¼ telescopes and the reducer plate of the C11 and C14 telescopes. All additional accessories mount onto the exterior/male threads.
This high quality filter that eliminates most color aberration inherent in achromatic refractor telescopes. The filter also reduces your view of the blue hue around lunar and planetary subjects. Features multi-layer coatings for 95% transmission.
Celestron’s Moon Filters are economical eyepiece filters for reducing the brightness of the moon and improving contrast, so greater detail can be observed on the lunar surface. The clear aperture is 21mm for the 1¼" filter. Transmission is about 18%.
New Celestron Solar Filters are made with Baader Astro Solar™ Safety Film. Far superior than any existing glass, Mylar or polymer filters, they lead to brighter, sharper, and higher contrast images. . Astro Solar™ Safety Film is clear and homogenous and attains the optical performance of high quality plane-parallel glass filters—it is diffraction limited! Double-sided metal coatings have uniform density and good color balance across the entire field ensuring razor sharp images from edge to edge. You can see detail in sunspots, bright faculae near the limb and the mottled areas known as granules with these filters. The Sun offers constant changes and will keep your observing interesting and fun. Even small aperture telescopes can enjoy features of the Sun.
Light Pollution Reduction (LPR) Filters are designed to selectively reduce the transmission of certain wavelengths of light, specifically those produced by artificial light. This includes mercury, and both high and low pressure sodium vapor lights. In addition, they block unwanted natural light caused by neutral oxygen emission in our atmosphere (i.e. sky glow). As a result, Celestron LPR Filters darken the background sky, making deep-sky observation and photography of nebulae, star clusters and galaxies possible from urban areas. LPR Filters are not used for lunar, planetary or terrestrial photography.While blocking unwanted light, Celestron LPR Filters permit the transmission of more desirable wave-lengths. The wavelengths included are hydrogen alpha, hydrogen beta, doubly ionized oxygen and singly ionized nitrogen. This will improve your viewing of emission nebulae, both from urban and rural settings. Some examples of objects that will show improved contrast are: the Orion Nebula, the Rosette Nebula, the North American Nebula, the Veil Nebula and the Helix Nebula.
